All I had was a glimpse of you,

One my eye caught in the dark,

On a night when the moon was dull and the stars wouldn’t shine brightly.

It’s cold and the streets were deserted,

And everyone was gone, except you.

But as soon as I blinked, you were gone too.

Disappearing into the darkness of the night.

But how can I forget your beautiful eyes?

They were full of dazzling light,

Glowing with the colors of  iridescent waters.

They were like wells of compassion

From which my soul longed to drink.

And how can I forget your smile?

It carried all of heaven’s grace and warmth.

But then I blinked and it was gone.

It was only a split second,

And you were gone as fast as you came.

You left no footprints for me to follow,

No name or address for me to find you.

All you left behind is the memory of your beautiful eyes and smile,

And the fragrance of your perfume.

I hope that love and faith can lead me to you.

I pray it brings me to your door step.

One more glance is all I ask for.

One more smile in the dark.

Another look into those eyes,

That’s all I ask for.

Maybe we could dance all night.

Maybe you would hold my hands and tell me you feel the way I do.

It was love at first sight,

And I hope that someday,

Your eyes and smile would be my last sight.

Give me a paper and a pen, and I’d take you around the world.
